What I
can't see won't kill me...didn't Nietzsche say that?
So, Britt Hume (Fox News) and
Ted Cruz find it appalling that a PA State Trooper would ticket a 19
year old girl (see above). I also note in the article above, that the
negative comments condemning the Trooper are from people from the
suburbs not from urban areas. I live in an urban area.
Imagine yourselves at my house
for a day. What would you see?
1. Out my back window, kids
from the neighborhood playing basketball in the alley. Now these are
White and Black kids so don't get the idea that I am singling out one
race.
2. Kids going to each others
houses mostly pre-teen girls who can't stop hugging each other and
sharing their bags of Cheetos.
3. My neighbors are
immigrants. They work six days a week dawn to dark. The two brothers
wake us up every morning going to work...coughing. It's ironic that
Trump is so anti-immigration and the only people (except the
essential service workers) who are working are immigrants from Latin
America. Immigrants believe that the business of America is business.
Corona is something to drink. To their credit, I am sure they have
faced greater dangers than the Corona virus where they come from.
4. Out my front window, a tow
truck operator who works without a mask; employs at least 5 people
who wear no masks; has a roadside repair service; repairs car
windshields...in other words there's constant intermingling. Oh, by
the way, he doesn't believe the Corona is any worse than the regular
flu. When he gets Corona, he'll blame the Chinese.
5. Anything else...oh
yes...low riders, dirt bikers (kids), and general motor heads driving
the streets having a field day since there is less traffic.
6. Anything else...oh
yes...my own pregnant daughter, she's 24 and still hasn't learned how
to sit on her ass. She is moving into a new apartment. We hurry to
get her stuff out of our house and garage that she has stored during
the move so that she doesn't stay long or try to come in our house
and kill us by infecting us with Corona.
My conclusion...The people
from Missouri, the show me state, must be pretty fucking stupid to
gain that kind of reputation. I believe that the mark of lack of
intelligence is one's inability to believe in things that one cannot
see. Does that mean atheists are stupid? Yep, I think so. Not
believing in God is as irresponsible as someone with a family who
doesn't believe in term life insurance. Even if you have to pretend
at least make the effort to believe in God. Look at it as death
insurance.
Now back to other things we
can't see that pose a more existential threat than God…
How many times have you been
in a public restroom and watched someone leave a stall without
washing their hands? How many times have you gone to a buffet and
watched an unattended child cough or sneeze in the potato salad or
picked their nose before picking up the silver ware?
I know what it is like to be
almost killed by something I didn't see. I ate at the Blue Ball Inn
at the crossroads of 23 and 322 back in the pre-litigious age. This
was circa 1979. It's been torn down since. I ate potato salad. That
night I became deathly ill. Food poisoning. Salmonella. The county
health department quarantined us. I was 23 and still living with my
parents. The Health Department was able to pinpoint from sampling my
stool the exact time I ate the bad food, what I ate, and the
contaminate. It's amazing what you can tell from a person by their
shit. What did I eat? Human feces. Some motherfucker didn't wash
their hands. I went from 157 to 128 in 24 hours. Wanna lose weight?
Eat shit.
If I can't see it, it's not
there. There's one exception. Preachers who continue to hold services
in packed churches. I guess they must see God. I give them credit for
that. I guess they see some form of God in this disaster too...or
maybe they want to make sure the offering plate is full. As they say,
never let a disaster go to waste.
I guess all of these people
will have to experience Corona to believe it is real. I just wish
that the State Trooper who ticketed that 19 year old girl would
ticket my daughter too so she would stay the fuck home. As for the
other people...just try convincing them.
